The pathogen is also spread by unwashed infected vegetables and fruits, food made of raw or not well done marine animals, hands, objects infected by stool and also by the water of bath.
In case of a young adult the period of jaundice can pass in 1-4 weeks, whereas can take months in case of the elderly. Convalescence also may take months.
In total the course of the disease is acute, with a thorough recovery. Severe complications or death occur very seldom. Chronic disease and asymptomatic virus carrying do not develop.
Only symptomatic treatment is possible.
