The disease is spread in several African, Asian and Latin American countries. In some cases the virus was also carried into Europe. After the bacteria have invaded the body, the incubation time is quite short, 1-2 days.

The source of infection: The infected person and the person carrying the Vibrio cholerae bacterium.

Problems and symptoms

  • In slight cases short term vomiting and diarrhoea
  • In more severe cases watery diarrhoea which is frequently described as "rice water" in nature. It’s not accompanied by abdominal pain.
  • Strong vomiting develops which is not preceded by intensive nausea.
